• BUILT TO SCALE

I like the way the world has the ability to make you feel pretty small every now and then. It's the humbling effect that makes me think we're made just the right size.

We've spent the last few days in a city called Foz do IguaƧu, it sits on 3 borders between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. The three countries are divided by rivers, and the river which cuts Brazil and Argentina holds one of the world's seven natural wonders; the Iguazu Falls.

Stretching a total of 2.7km, with about 300 falls each higher than the Niagra, 'wonder' is the right word to describe such an incredible sight. If the stars have ever made you feel small, standing at these falls and hearing the waters roar is just the same.

I've never thought about how falling could be such a beautiful thing.

It's funny though, because just up the road is one of the world's industrial wonders; the Itaipu Dam.

You still feel small standing on this massive 180m high manmade structure, but to know humans made this thing and it changed a course in nature, that makes us feel bigger.

Also, if you've heard any news from Brazil lately, you might have heard that a tragic fire has claimed the lives of 250 people in a night club in Santa Maria. This is a small town in the state we are in at the moment, and it's being felt by people right across this place.

    Back to feeling small again.

I'd say we need both ay. We need those big moments which help us to realise what we are capable of, that hint at what potential we hold, and assure us we can do it. And I'd say we'd do well to appreciate those moments that remind us life can be fragile, to find awe in the wonders around us, and affirm that human curiosity that there's something greater out there than ourselves.
